"Mind over matter" is a quote most of us have heard throughout our lives. As a person who has struggled with anxiety and panic disorders I have heard this quote more than most! I have always KNOWN the effects of a NEGATIVE mind.
As a child I struggled leaving home for ANY reason because it was SCARY and out of my COMFORT zone. As soon as I knew I was really away from home I would panic. Panic would lead to headaches, nausea, sweaty palms, dizziness, heart palpitations, and sometimes numbness. This anxiety has followed me through to adulthood. As I experienced new things in life the anxieties would seem to follow. Anything could set off this negative pattern in my mind. Once the negativity entered my brain, the body quickly followed with its response of headaches, nausea, sweaty palms, dizziness, heart palpitations, and numbness.
I always thought "if I could only harness this negative energy and change it to good...how powerful would it be?". VERY POWERFUL!!! If my mind can cause such a horrible reaction in my body doesn't it make sense that the same kind of POSITIVE energy entering my brain could cause the same kind of POSITIVE reaction in my body?
Our minds are a POWERFUL TOOL! Think of all the negativity in our world. You can't turn on the television without hearing something horrible. We are pumped full of negative media and all the horrors going on in the world. What if the news were ONLY GOOD? What if we only reported the AMAZING things that are happening? People succeeding? People doing good? Jobs that are prospering? Why are we so set on sharing only the negative that is out there?!!! No wonder our economy is bad and the world is in turmoil. We are bombarded with negative and we see no way out.
I propose we all change our thoughts. Look only for the positive. When we think positive we attract positive. When we talk and look and act negative, we attract the negative. Let's change. Just a little. Each little thing we do helps. As a woman who reaches a height of 4'10" I can tell you.....little things CAN bring about great things!

Hi Jessica :)
ReplyDeleteI am a relationship therapist and coach who primarily works with singles. I love your post because it resonates with the message that I tell all of my clients - which is to change their thinking. For some it seems to simplistic, or too optimistic, but it seriously is what works!
Change what you think and the things you look at change...
Thanks for sharing :)
